Import Transactions from Authorize.Net

We offer a Q-Import Expansion Pack to import downloaded transactions from Authorize.Net into QuickBooks.

With Q-Import we provide a template to import transactions from Authorize.Net. Both, including sample data, are located in the file authorize_net.zip. Please unzip the files and copy the files into the Q-Import installation directory.

How to use it ?

1. Login to your Authorize.Net account and download the settled transactions in CSV format. This is under Reports. Choose 'Transaction Details by Settlement Date', as item type select 'Settled Transactions', choose the date and then Run Report. At the result press Download To File and in the Dropdown List choose 'Expanded Fields / Comma Separated' and mark the checkbox 'Include Column Headings'. This will download your transaction data in the correct format.

2. In Q-Import select the template ANetCustomerSRSample. Then select the downloaded file from the previous step and import the data.

First a new customer is created including billing and shipping address (with all data you downloaded). Then a sales receipt is created for this customer. Since Authorize.Net seldom sends item information we use a new item 'Uncategorized Item' for the import. So, if you get error, mostly, this item is missing. Just. create it as new item in QuickBooks. Since February you have the capability to download a QuickBooks report directly from AuthorizeNet, which you can import without Q-Import via Utilities|Import|IIF Files. This is a nice feature, but it adds the transaction data only and does not create a full customer. So. Q-Import gives you full access to your customer.

Regarding the use of IIF files, here is a note from a QuickBooks FAQ at Intuit's QuickBooks developer website:

Importing incorrect IIF files can lead to corruption of QuickBooks company files.  Therefore, Intuit strongly discourages relying on IIF files for application integration. Intuit cannot support customers who have used IIF files created by third-party applications. Intuit expects to drop IIF from future versions of QuickBooks...
